SAMG Entertainment, a leading name in K-animation known for its back-to-back successes with Catch! Teenieping and the film Heartsping: Teenieping of Love, has unveiled a new animated series centered on cat characters.

Airing on SBS, SAMG’s latest intellectual property, Wish Cat, follows Anna, an ordinary yet kind-hearted girl, who encounters a magical cat named Iemeow that falls from the sky. The two become friends and embark on various charming adventures in this 3D animation series.

SAMG Entertainment has a clear strategy to raise the target age group for their new series. Notably, Wish Cat introduces Leo, Anna’s classmate and the male lead, whose presence is expected to captivate older viewers. The series showcases the charming dynamic between Anna, who harbors feelings for Leo, and Iemeow, who tries—often humorously—to assist her, aiming to win over both teenage girls and the Generation Z.

Producer Ji-eun Lee, overseeing the production of Wish Cat, said, “The story centers around Anna, a teenage girl experiencing her first love and friendship. The emotions of excitement and heart-fluttering moments will be delicately portrayed, making it a series that can resonate with teenagers and the MZ generation alike. In Season 1, over 20 Wish Cats, each with unique abilities, will appear to help Anna fulfill her wishes.”

Ahead of its September debut, SAMG Entertainment launched a line of Wish Cat merchandise at the end of August, including 25 different products such as plush dolls and figurines.

A representative from SAMG commented, “Since releasing Wish Cat merchandise at major retail stores at the end of August, the cat characters’ cuteness has been gaining buzz, leading to strong early sales, and we have been receiving numerous collaboration inquiries,” signaling high hopes for the success of this new IP.

SAMG Entertainment’s Wish Cat, the series about a wish-granting cat, premiered on September 12 at 5:50 PM on SBS and on September 20 at 6 PM on Tooniverse.
