SAMG Entertainment Co., Ltd. (CEO Suhoon Kim), proudly announces the return of its highly successful IP ‘Metal Cardbot’ with the release of its second season, ‘Metal Cardbot S’, set to air on EBS on August 26th.
‘Metal Cardbot S’ follows the success of Metal Cardbot Season 1, which premiered in 2023 and quickly rose to become the top-rated show in its time slot. The story continues as the character Crest returns to Mou Town. Upon touching a mysterious stone tablet from the Porcaca ruins, the protagonist, Jun, triggers the Metal Breath, setting off a new series of events.
In this season, audiences will be introduced to a mysterious girl named Peruru, who is pursuing the stone tablet, as well as a more powerful Blue Cop S. Additionally, new Metal Cardbots with their own secrets will make their debut, enriching the overall narrative.
SAMG Entertainment initially launched Metal Cardbot Season 1 in March 2023 in Korea, achieving a milestone with a viewership rating surpassing 3%, positioning the show among the top three boys’ animation programs in the country.
Moreover, in November of the same year, Metal Cardbot successfully entered the Chinese market, quickly topping real-time content charts. SAMG Entertainment reported over 1 billion KRW (approximately $774,000) in licensing revenue in China in the first half of this year alone, with figures comparable to the earnings of its other popular IP, Catch! Teenieping. The company’s growing presence in China highlights the rising popularity of boys’ animation in the region.
In Metal Cardbot S, SAMG Entertainment has carefully considered feedback from viewers and toy consumers, incorporating these insights into both the storyline and toy designs to meet the demands of the audience. The company is confident that these enhancements will drive even higher ratings.
Hyung-tae Kim, head of the Boys’ Toy Development Team at SAMG Entertainment, shared, “Following the broadcast of Season 1, we received a lot of requests for combined robots, so we have planned combined toy robots for Season 2. We’ve significantly improved the quality to closely match the animation.” He added, “Just as the Season 1 toys gained attention from both children and adult collectors, we anticipate that the high-quality toys of Season 2 will appeal to a wide audience.”
Set to bring fresh excitement to the boys’ animation market, SAMG Entertainment’s flagship IP ‘Metal Cardbot S’ premiered on August 26th on EBS.
