SAMG Entertainment Partners with NCT WISH for “Wish Cat” Collaboration Project
- – Season 2 Wish Cat: Magic Card expands across OST, collaboration characters, and merchandise
- – K-animation and K-pop synergy engages Gen Z and young Millennial fans worldwide
Global IP content company SAMG Entertainment (KOSDAQ: 419530, CEO Suhoon Kim) has launched a multifaceted collaboration between its animated IP Wish Cat and SM Entertainment’s rising group NCT WISH. The partnership spans collaboration characters, an original soundtrack, and merchandise, representing a strategic effort to grow SAMG Entertainments IP ecosystem through cross-industry synergy.
Ahead of the Q1 2026 premiere of Wish Cat Season 2: Magic Card, SAMG Entertainment has unveiled cat-themed collaboration characters inspired by the concepts of NCT WISH members. Beginning January 12, the characters will anchor a merchandise lineup including figures, plush keychains, cushions, blankets, and stickers, with phased releases designed to sustain fan engagement.
NCT WISH will also perform the season’s original soundtrack, “Wishing Star,” adding a musical layer to the series’ emotional storytelling. The track will be released on January 7, alongside music video content and related merchandise, extending engagement across digital and retail platforms.
Wish Cat follows Anna, a cheerful girl who encounters Iemeow, a special cat who accidentally falls into the human world of Nyangtababara, exploring themes of growth, friendship, and emotional connection. Season 1 aired on SBS and Tooniverse in 2024 before reaching global audiences through major OTT platforms.
In Season 2, new villains threaten Nyangtababara as Anna transforms into “Wish Ella” and teams up with new Wish Cats, delivering dynamic action, richer visuals, and a broader narrative scope.
The collaboration builds on prior organic fan-driven content, including Wish Cat’s participation in NCT WISH’s mini-album poppop artwork parody and dance challenge under the shared “WISH” theme. Since debuting simultaneously in Korea and Japan in 2024, NCT WISH has rapidly expanded its global fandom and participated in high-profile IP collaborations, including the OST for Catch! Teenieping Season 6.
Wish Cat has demonstrated its versatility as a scalable IP through brand partnerships with Paris Baguette and SPAO, large-scale offline campaigns, stage musicals, and immersive exhibitions—including the Wish Cat Theme Park Seoul and a special collaboration with Daegu Aquarium—expanding its universe well beyond animation.
A SAMG Entertainment spokesperson said, “Through our collaboration with NCT WISH, we are expanding our IP across music, merchandise, and licensing to deliver distinctive fan experiences for Gen Z, young Millennials, and global fandoms at the intersection of K-animation and K-pop. We will continue to drive sustainable IP growth through strong content synergies.”
