SAMG Entertainment’s ‘Metal Cardbot W’ to Premiere on EBS December 4

  • Season 3 builds on the excitement of its predecessor with even bolder transformation sequences.
  • The franchise’s toy line continues to win over robot enthusiasts, fueling anticipation across the toy market.

Global IP content company SAMG Entertainment(KOSDAQ: 419530; CEO Suhoon Kim) announced that its hit robot animation franchise, Metal Cardbot, will return with a new season titled Metal Cardbot W: Roar of Steel. The series is set to premiere on EBS 1TV on December 4 and will air every Thursday at 7:45 a.m(KST).

The 3D action-battle series has steadily built a strong fan base since its debut in March 2023, when the first season ranked among South Korea’s top three TV programs for boys aged 4 to 7, reaching a peak viewership of 3.03 percent. The second season, Metal Cardbot S, which aired in August 2024, more than doubled that figure, posting a 6.19 percent rating and setting a new record for the franchise.

The franchise has also gained traction overseas. Following its launch in China in November 2023, Metal Cardbot climbed to No. 1 on real-time trending charts across major streaming platforms including Youku, Tencent Video, iQIYI, and Mango TV, as well as on the country’s leading children’s channel, JinYing Cartoon. Season 2 Part 1 aired in December 2024 and Part 2 in August 2025, with both viewership and merchandise sales continuing to rise. In Russia, where the series began airing in early 2025, related toy sales surpassed $2 million within the first year, strengthening the brand’s footprint in the region.

The storyline centers on a young boy named Jun, who embarks on a mission to find Metal Cardbots secretly living on Earth. In the upcoming third season, the arrival of the mysterious “Wild Cardbot”—a robot tied to a 60-million-year-old secret—introduces more intense battles and upgraded transformation sequences.

The Metal Cardbot toy line is also drawing significant interest. The new Metal Cardbot W toys, released on October 22 through SAMG Entertainment’s official online store Emotion Castle and at major retailers such as Lotte Mart and E-Mart, have received positive feedback from robot enthusiasts for their refined transformation mechanics—from vehicle mode to robot mode—and expanded functionality enabled by interactive metal cards.

Following its broadcast debut on EBS, Metal Cardbot W will roll out across major cable networks in Korea, broadening the franchise’s domestic reach.
