SAMG Entertainment is pushing for IPO in earnest… NH Investment & Securities Co., Ltd.

South Korea’s leading 3D animation company called SAMG Entertainment (formerly SAMG Animation, CEO Kim Suhoon, hereinafter SAMG) announced on the 25th that it will proceed an IPO.

For its IPO plan, SAMG will select NH Investment & Securities as a listed organizer and specify the IPO (initial public offering) schedule and size, in order to enter KOSDAQ within 2022. The company is planning to target global digital contents markets with new funds that it secured through IPO.

SAMG, which is regarded as one of Korea’s top 3D animation technologies and global content business capabilities, has changed its name from ‘SAMG Animation’ to ‘SAMG Entertainment’ this year, and growing fast to become a digital platform-based content entertainment company.

SAMG’s sales in 2020 rose 42 percent from the previous year to 23.5 billion won, and its overseas business has continued to grow. In particular, as the popularity of SAMG’s show ‘Mini Force’ in the Chinese market exploded, merchandising revenue and media sales in China rose 140% and 20%, respectively, year-on-year, contributing to the expansion of performance.

SAMG’s sales target for this year is also about 40% increase compared to last year. The company plans to achieve its goals by actively promoting new businesses such as media distribution using major IPs (intellectual properties), production of new media contents, distribution of toys, and licensing through existing profit models.

SAMG, which has mega IPs such as “Mini Force” and “CATCH! TEENIEPING” is expanding its existing IPs in “OSMU (On Source Multi Use)” system this year, which will be re-processed in various forms such as games, education, and music. It also unveiled 3D digital idol “LULUPOP” last month targeting teenage consumers who are leading the flow of ‘Metaverse’ to expand content consumption targets.

“With the rapid ‘digital transformation’ of the global content market is becoming an era of infinite competition in which companies with the highest level of content production only can survive,” said Kim Suhoon, CEO of SAMG. “We will lead the global market by creating unique IPs with technology accumulated over the past 20 years.”

Meanwhile, SAMG’s flagship IP “Mini Force” has accumulated 23 billion views on Chinese platforms such as Tencent and iQIYI and 11.1 billion views on YouTube channels, while “Miraculus World: New York, One Hero”, produced by SAMG, topped the weekly Top10 section of Disney Plus in Latin America in March. SAMG is also planning to release South Korea’s No. 1 girl’s animation ‘CATCH! TEENIEPING in global markets within this year after ‘Mini Force’ and ‘Ladybug’.
