SAMG Content Exports in Q1 show 270% YOY Growth, With Powerful Global Kids Market Performance
– 5.5 Billion won of exports sales in the first quarter of 2022 nearly tripled to 2021’s record… SAMG’s main Intellectual Properties like “Miniforce” led the global sales.
-Established a China branch at the beginning of the year as an exportation base for the global content market, and plans to enter Europe in the first half of next year
– “Getting Global Popularity for Key Content and Expanding IP Business Performance… will expand global performance beyond Asia and around the world.”
SAMG Entertainment (CEO Suhoon Kim, hereinafter SAMG) announced on the 13th that its IP exports in the first quarter of this year increased 270% year-on-year.
SAMG’s global export performance in the first quarter of this year was $4.26 million dollars (about 5.48 billion won), nearly three times higher than its performance during the same period last year. The establishment of a local subsidiary in China earlier this year, and the aggressive expansion of global business served as main factors of this remarkable growth in exports. Major export items include license distribution using its IP, overseas broadcasting, launch of global OTT and new media platforms, and other outsourced production.
SAMG’s flagship animation “Miniforce” series has established itself as the most popular kid content since its release in the Chinese market in 2016. In September last year, its 3rd season ‘Miniforce Super Dino Power’ ranked first in ratings on the China’s top 10 animation channel ‘China Golden Eagle Cartoon TV’, just in a month of its entering in China. Also the show was listed on ‘China’s top 10 licenses’.
SAMG’s new animation “Catch! Teenieping” in 2020 is drawing attention in the global kids market beyond Korea. In July last year, it recorded 32 million cumulative views on major Chinese OTT such as ‘Tencent’ and ‘iQiyi’ within a week of entering China, and has now exceeded 1.1 billion views. In last October, it ranked first in the Korean kids category as soon as the show was launched on Netflix, and ranked fifth and ninth in Australia and North America’s Netflix, respectively.
SAMG’s “Superdino,” which first aired on SBS in March this year, topped the popular kids’ animation chart of “Youku” shortly after simultaneously entering Chinese TV channels and OTT in late April. In the first half of next year, it plans to showcase ‘Superdino’ IP on the global stage with DeA Planeta Entertainment, Europe’s largest media group, to create results in the global kids content market.
Suhoon Kim, CEO of SAMG, said, “As our content lineup such as Miniforce and Catch! Teenieping is gaining huge popularity at home and abroad, profits from each business sector using IP are also increasing.”
