NCT WISH, Baek Ji-young Join Soundtrack Lineup for “Teenieping: Legend of the Whale Heartstone”
– K-pop artists, actors and veteran vocalists come together for the animated feature’s four-track soundtrack.
SAMG Entertainment (CEO Kim Suhoon), the Global IP content company, has unveiled the speical soundtrack lineup for its upcoming animated feature Teenieping: Legend of the Whale Heartstone, assembling a diverse roster of K-pop artists and vocalists to accompany the film’s theatrical release.
The four-track soundtrack features NCT WISH member Jaehee, Hearts2Hearts members Yuha and Yeon, veteran singer Baek Ji-young, actress Jung Ji-so, and singer-songwriter Gwen Dorado. Together, the artists contribute a mix of duet and solo performances that mirror the emotional journey of the film’s characters.
Opening in Korean theaters on Aug. 5, Teenieping: Legend of the Whale Heartstone follows Romi and Heartsping as they embark on a journey across the sea to find Romi’s missing mother. While last year’s Heartsping: Teenieping of Love attracted more than 1.24 million admissions and centered on Romi’s coming-of-age journey and her growing understanding of love, the sequel shifts its focus toward maternal love and family, expanding the emotional scope of the franchise.
The soundtrack includes two duet songs and two solo tracks, each tied to a different stage of Romi’s journey. Jaehee and Yuha perform “Open Your Eyes”, an uplifting duet built around hope and new beginnings, while Yeon takes on a solo track reflecting Romi’s determination to pursue her dreams.
Baek Ji-young and Jung Ji-so lend their voices to a duet exploring the emotional bond between mother and daughter, anchoring the film’s central theme of family. Gwen Dorado rounds out the lineup with a solo performance celebrating resilience and the enduring power of love.
Music director Kim Taeho, who oversaw the soundtrack, said the goal was to preserve each artist’s individuality while maintaining a cohesive musical identity throughout the project.
“With such a remarkable lineup, every artist brought a distinct vocal color and expressive style, allowing each song to naturally reflect the emotional tone of the story,” Kim said. “Those individual voices ultimately came together to elevate the soundtrack as a whole.”
The release also reflects SAMG Entertainment’s long-running strategy of expanding its original IP through music. Across both its television series and theatrical releases, the company has regularly collaborated with K-pop artists to extend the storytelling beyond the screen, using original songs to deepen audience engagement with its characters and world.
The speical soundtrack rollout began on July 1 with the release of “Open Your Eyes”, accompanied by a behind-the-scenes music video featuring Jaehee and Yuha. Additional tracks will be released in the lead-up to the film’s theatrical premiere on Aug. 5.
